Psychoanalyst Epstein became intrigued with the curative powers of mental imagery through the influence of Mme. Colette Aboukler-Muscat while in Jerusalem in 1974. Having mastered the techniques of "waking dream therapy," which postulates the unity of mind and body, he espouses visual imagery, "the thinking used for making contact with our inner subjective reality" for curing both physical and emotional problems. Much of this book contains specific instructions for evoking the appropriate imagery to cure afflictions ranging from acne to warts, and including cancer, hemorrhoids, and scoliosis. A separate chapter focuses on imagery for promoting good health. The book includes pointers for developing successful imaging techniques and will appeal to those readers interested in alternative medical practices.

You are what you think

I was diagnosed with cancer in the late '80s and had the carcinoma in situ removed by lazer surgery, yet I still had pre-cancer cells to contend with and I chose to go the holistic way to continue aiding my body to heal. Years later I look back with such a sense of rightness. This book taught me how to visualize the battle that was taking place in my body and was an awesome way to take an active and proactive part in discovering myself. I highly recommend this book no matter what you are dealing with (physical, emotional, mental, etc.) Enjoy this journey of discovery you will be embarking on.

BE WILLING to see yourself differently.....

This book is very clear and concise that can be easily followed by anyone new to visualization..... I really believe Epstein's visualization guides do bring about results. I have just started the one for "arthritis".....which will take more "than a day" to see the results. Doing these visualizations give me a feeling that i am WORKING WITH my body to bring it into balance.....as the body believes what the mind shows it.....

The Hedgehog structure involves black pawns on a6, b6, d6, and e6. The black c-pawn exchanges for the white d-pawn only when White can only recapture with a piece. As a result, there is no white d-pawn, an important feature of the structure because Black gains access to key squares at c5 and e5.

Years ago, I read Adorjan's article, "The Quill of the Hedgehog." It was clear that it was the start of a beautiful friendship... a structure that was very well suited to my style ... clear positional themes, thematic pawn breaks, and some rather lovely tactical ideas. All of the black pieces have well defined roles, there is good coordination in the black camp, and white aggression is relatively easy to contain and even beat back.

This e-book contains ten examples from my correspondence play, all interesting struggles against tough opponents. In all, I used the Hedgehog four times in the tenth US Correspondence Championship. Without any doubt, my success there depended completely upon the soundness of the Hedgehog structure... I went four for four with it.

A Worthy Book About a Noble Game

As a National Chess Master you might guess that I'd know at least a little something about the Hedgehog and you would be wrong. I did know that Jon Edwards is a US Correspondence Chess Champion and the first game in this book is with an old friend book dealer Dale Brandreth. Cool stuff but no reason to purchase a chess book. So you are dying to know right? Simple reason, Jon succeeds in the rarest of chess topics he teaches a structure, now repeat after me "The Hedgehog is a structure, not an opening". Now write that down five times and don't ever forget that. The reason that is important is that you can take on the task of writing an opening book and not really transfer any useful knowledge. Yet is almost impossible to write a book about "structure" and not teach someone how to think about chess in a new way. That my friend is golden and Jon's effort and result here are golden too. He teaches you how to think, enough said buy this book!

Hedgehog Strategy e-book (Chess)

This e-book provides a very good and interesting overview of the Hedgehog defense, which can be used aginst many opening moves by White. This e-book made me want to find out more about this interesting defense strategy for Black. It provides a good general overview of major themes for this interesting opening. Unfortunately, if White knows that you're trying to play a "Hedgehog", it's fairly easy for White to play lines that avoid the Hedgehog. However, if White is not careful the game may lead to a "Hedgehog", which can be a very effective defense by Black.

Great overview of ideas in the Hedgehog Structure

If you play hedgehog structures, this book is well worth getting. You get 10 annotated games, giving you a good idea of where the pieces go in this structure. The book has a lot of explanations and not a lot of variations, which I found helpful for an introduction to this structure.
